Continuing the Journey
Reconvening at Boughton House – Early April 2025
Earlier in April, the Signatories and Observers of the Drumlanrig Accords reconvened at Boughton House in Northamptonshire for a one-day gathering. This working retreat provided an opportunity to assess progress since the original meeting, review the implementation of key strands, and deepen trust among participants.
In a spirit of openness and shared purpose, participants engaged in structured dialogue, workshops, and bilateral meetings addressing issues of mutual concern — particularly those affecting Jewish and Muslim communities across the UK. The gathering underscored the value of collaboration across difference, and notably, it created space for constructive disagreement — reinforcing the belief that principled exchange is essential for any enduring partnership.
Boughton House reaffirmed the commitment to sustained cooperation, anchored in shared values and a determination to work together for the common good.
Bute House Reception – 22 April 2025
On 22 April 2025, First Minister John Swinney hosted a formal reception at Bute House to honour the Drumlanrig Signatories and those who have played an essential role in fostering dialogue across institutions and communities. The reception served as a moment of reflection and recognition — acknowledging the progress achieved to date, while also underscoring the seriousness of the work that lies ahead.
In his remarks, the First Minister reiterated the Scottish Government’s support for the principles of mutual respect, democratic accountability, and civic participation embedded within the Accords. He further acknowledged the desire among participants to see the spirit and framework of the Drumlanrig Accords implemented in Scotland as a means of deepening community cohesion and mutual understanding within Scottish society.
